Book at metabolic efficiency test with The Endurance Coach for £60. The fee includes a 1 hour testing session, a post-test coaching consultation and training advice.
What is metabolic testing?
Metabolic testing takes place on the treadmill or Watt bike, depending upon your sport. You will complete a low intesity warm up for 10 minutes and then we will increase the treadmill speed or cycle resistance a small amount every 2 minutes and analyse changes in fuel use. The test is not maximal and we do not calculate VO2 max, thresholds or training zones.
Why should I book a metabolic test?
If you are competing in endurance events, in particular long distances, your ability to utilise fat as a fuel source is critical. If your body prefers to use carbohydrate, you will deplete stores within a number of hours, leading to a significant drop in performance. We can identify whether your preferred fuel is fat or carbohydrate and we can also provide solutions to help to utilise greater amounts of fat, should this be necessary. Our post-session advice will focus upon both training and nutrition changes, to enhance your performance.
From the metabolic test you will identify:
Fat and carbohydrate usage at a range of intensities Total energy usage at a range of intensities (Kcal) Correlating heart rate and power measurements
How much does a metabolic test cost?
The full cost for a metabolic test is £60, the session will last approximately 1 hour in total.
